Family Pieces
One of Dad's bowls, made from Manitoba maple. The red area is natural, and happens when the living tree is injured.
One of Dad's later bowls, of oak I think.
It's quite thin, and finely turned This oak bowl was one of Dad's last. It was an experiment, and not finished. He made a bowl in his usual way, then cut it in half, and glued the two halves together, rim to rim, leaving the final bowl squared off
Dad only made 2 or 3 covered bowls; this is the one that I managed to hang onto. It is only about 6" tall and I use it for potpourri.
It's sitting on one of Gramma's crocheted edged doilies, with a piece of her Richelieu cutwork embroidery in the background. |
